Goodwood Races: the Stewards Cup, 1862. The Stewards Cup, which was run for on the first day, and won by Captain Christies Lady Clifden, is a silver vase from the manufactory of Mr. C. F. Hancock...in imitation of an ancient one in majolica-ware, the property of A. Barker, Esq. The form is triangular: three richly-chased grotesque masks form the handles, and on the body of the vase are three bas-reliefs representing ancient battles. The foot is composed of lions claws and classical ornaments, and the stand of the cup on which it is raised is also ornamented with masks, shields, &c., in the same style.
