The International Exhibition: a vase by Wedgwood and Co., Etruria, 1862. This beautiful vase is manufactured by the distinguished firm of Wedgwood...It is Roman in character, and combines boldness of general form with chastity and elegance of detail. The decorations, which are carefully modelled, are of white porcelain on the blue ground, so familiar to us in the article known as Wedgwood ware. The design round the body is treated classically, and represents the offering of an animal in grateful sacrifice to the gods for success in the chase. The subordinate parts are simply adorned with oak leaves, and the boars-head handles at the sides are modelled with artistic boldness and fidelity. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
