Carcinoid tumour is characterized by cells with oval to round nuclei (darker blue) and a speckled chromatin pattern (finely granular texture inside the nuclei), sometimes nicknamed ?œsalt and pepper chromatin?? A few red blood cells (bright red) are also seen here amongst the tumour cells. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 400x when printed at 10cm.
