Light micrograph of an endocervical gland. Glands in the endocervix (the more inner canal in the uterine cervix) produce mucous. The cells lining this gland therefore contain mucin material (light purple) which they secrete into the glandular lumen (central white space). The nuclei (dark blue dots) of the glandular cells are present at the outer edge of the endocervical gland. Surrounding the gland is pink fibrous stroma (peripheral parts of image). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10cm.
