Illustrated manuscript, 1603 with 1613-1616 additions. Two pages from Die sch?ne Sommerzeit des ewigen Lebens, so nach dem tr?ben Winter dieser Welt angehen wird' a work by Jakob Zader, roughly translated as: 'The beautiful summer time of eternal life will begin after the dreary winter of this world'. On the left are two naked cherubs: one is blowing soap bubbles and the other sleeps resting on a skull, a symbol of death. The hourglass reminds us that time will run out for all of us eventually. The text on the right-hand page is embellished with flowers and caterpillars.
