Gun practice on board H.M.S. "Brilliant", 1860. British seamen in the Naval Reserve: scene showing ...a guns crew at lever target-practice - in the act of laying the gun for the "bulls-eye" on the target preparatory to its being set in motion. Each volunteer has to fire a certain number of shots at the target during his period of drill, and he undergoes the same instruction as if he were at actual practice at a target afloat. From "Illustrated London News", 1860.
