Dr Julian Sorell Huxley (1887-1975), evolutionary biologist and eugenicist. His scientific research included important work on embryology, taxonomy and studies of behaviour and evolution. He was secretary of the Zoological Society of London (1935??942), the first Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO, 1946??948) and the president of the British Eugenics Society (1959-1962). He is also the brother of the writer and novelist Aldous Huxley.
