Fauna of the Adamantina Formation. Illustration of animals at the end of the dry season in the northwest of what is now Sao Paulo State, Brazil, around 72-68 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous. An Armadillosuchus, an extinct terrestrial crocodile, is leaving its burrow after a period of aestivation (dormancy). Next to the burrow is the skull of an abelisaur therapod dinosaur. In the background is a herd of titanosaur suauropod dinosaurs.
