Southern mealy amazon (Amazona farinosa farinosa) perching on a branch. These large birds are around 40 centimetres in length. They are mainly green and the back and nape often have a whitish tinge, hence the name. They are known to be one of the most gentle and docile of the Amazon parrots. Photographed in the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador.
