Back of a young female patient with a lumbar (lower spine) meningioma. Meningiomas are slow-growing benign (non-cancerous) tumours that arise from the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. Meningiomas of the lumbar spine are rare. Treatment is with surgical removal of the tumour. The patient also has a prolapsed cervix.
