The seminal vesicles are organs adjacent to the human prostate and they secrete part of the fluid that makes up semen, the fluid which carries sperm. The wall of the seminal vesicles is made up of smooth muscle cells, which are the many elongated fibre-like cells seen in this image. The smooth muscle cells are arranged in bundles that are haphazardly arranged and crisscross with each other. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section.
