Gastrostomy tube in abdomen of a 89 year old man with motor neurone disease (MND). A PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) tube has been inserted into his abdomen. The tube will have been inserted into his stomach or into his small intestine, and is used to supply nutrients directly, bypassing his throat. MND is a neurodegenerative condition that affects the muscles.
