Housewives Will Look To Him -- Mr. John Strachey - new British Minister of Food - with his wife, he succeeds Sir Ben Smith who resigned after differnces with his colleagues in the Cabinet Food Committee. Mr. Strachey was previously Under-Secretary of State for Air, and one of the great successes among the Government's junior Ministers. At one time M.P. for Ashton, he has always been on the left of the Labour Party. He broke with the Communist Party early in the war. Educated at Eton and Oxford and heir to the baronetey of Strachie, he ***** another old school tie into the Government and reduces its age level. He is forty-four, and the father of two children.
