Sir Miles Thomas , Chairman of B.O.A.O., with "Cavu". When the B.O.A.C. Speedbird "Cathay" left London Airport recently to inaugurate the Corporation's Stratocruiser services between London and New York one of the passengers was a British bulldog puppy. The puppy v/as a personal gift from Sir Miles Thomas, Chairman of B.O.A.C., to the new International Airport at Idlewild, New York, as a mascot for that aerodrome. His name is "Cavu" - aeronautical term meaning "ceiling and visibility unlimited". Provided by the Kensbridge Kennels, London, world famous for the British bulldog breed, Cavu was dressed for the trans-Atlantic journey in a smart coat in B.O.A.C. colours of blue and gold, embossed with a Speedbird.
