A Welsh Welterweight Hope -- An up-and-coming young fighter to whom the Welsh valleys look to bring home the welterweight crown is 21-year-old Eddie Thomas, of Merthyr Tydfil, already considered: to be the best boxer Wales has produced since Tommy Farr. London will see him in action at Harringay on September 8 in a bottom-of-the-bill bout against Yrjor Piitulainen of Finland on the Roderick-Williams welterweight title programmes. A.B.A lightweight champion at 19, Thomas is undefeated in his 10 professional fights. August 27, 1947.
