Duke Of Kent Hurt In Crash - Unconscious after head-on car crash. Mr. Roland Higton, driver of the shooting brake which was involved in the crash, talking to a R.A.C, man after the accident. The Duke of Kent, eighteen-year-old cousin of the Queen, was injured in a head-on car collision at Sunningdale, Berks, yesterday. He was rushed, unconscious, to a hospital at Chertsey, and then transferred to the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases in London. An official announcement said that the Duke was suffering from a "moderately severe" head injury. Late last night it was stated,that he had concussion, that his condition was "taking a normal course and-giving rise to no anxiety at present." The Duchess of Kent was informed of the accident at her home at Iver, Bucks. With her younger son, Prince Michael and with a police escort leading the way, she was driven to St. Peter's hospital, Chertsey, where the Duke was first taken.
