Ore Carrier Navigates Chicago River -- The S.S. Johnstown, 629-foot are carrier, the largest vessel ever to navigate the Illinois waterway system, approaches the Michigan Ave., bridge today enroute to Lake Michigan. The ship, recently completed at Baltimore is owned by Bethlehem Steel Corp., and will become part of the firm's Great Lakes fleet.
