Portrait Of A President .... After a world-wide search, Godfrey Tearle, American-born actor who rose to fame in British theatrical circles, was chosen because of his remarkable likeness to portray the late President Roosevelt, in Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer's gripping story of the atom bomb, "The Beginning or the End." Here he is shown as he spends his first day at the studio. Brian Donlevy and Robert Walker are starred in the film, with Tom Drake, Beverly Tyler, Audrey Totter, Hurd Hatfield, Hume Cronyn and others in the outstanding cast. Norman Taurog directed, Samuel Marx produced. Seeing himself as Franklin D. Roosevelt before leaving the studio and returning to a stage assignment in England, Terle, views himself as the Late President Roosevelt in a scene from "The Beginning or the End" as it is flashed on a small projection screen for his benefit.
