Atom Power Boss No. 1 -- The man who will give British industry its first electricity derived from uranium atoms instead of coal was named last night, He is 37 year old Mr. Lewis Stretch (pictured here) of Sandiway, Cheshire, who will manage the world's first atomic power station now being built at Sellafield, West Cumberland. Mr. Stretch is not an atomic expert. He was choosen for the job because he has lived among huge machines since leaving Cambridge University in 1939. He has two children - both girls. August 16, 1954.
