'Most Beautiful Thing On Earth' -- Generations of clergy have worn hollows in the ancient stairway leading from Wells Cathedral up to the Chapter House, where the business of the Cathedral is conducted. The Chapter House, adjoining the North transept, was built during the episcopato of William de Marchia (1293-1302). January 1, 1949.
