***** Drives To Palace In State Carriage - First Since 1939 -- Dr. Subandrio about to enter the state carriage for his drive to Buckingham Palace today. A custom discontinued in the war years was revived to-day (Thursday) when Dr. Subandrio, the first Indonesian Ambassador to Great Britain, was driven in a State carriage (closed owing to the rain) from his Embassy at 42, Wilton Crescent, Knights bridge London, to Buckingham Palace to present his letter of credence to the King. The use of State carriages on these occasions - instituted by King Edward VII - has been reintroduced byorder of the King. April 09, 1950. (Photo by Reuterphoto)
