Tamworth's pool earns 1952 swimming honor. Country swimming championships well be held at Tamworth Olympic pool next month. The pool (shown above) is regarded as possibly the best in the State. It was built by the council in 1937, in the face of considerable opposition, on borrowed money. at a cost of ?20,000. Today, the pool would cost ?50.000 to build. With the coming of the pool. swimming boomed in the city. The club claims, no child over five in the district should be unable to swim. Instructors are available at any hour of the day.
