Two former brilliant professional athletes, South Australian Arnold Menz (left) and Western Australian Dave Strickland met this week for the first time since they ran against each other 47 years ago. Mr. Menz (72) is holidaying in Perth. Mr. Strickland (73) is father of Olympian Miss Shirley Strickland. The two veterans ran in the 1903 Stawell Gift. Menz was second, Strickland unplaced. The latter had won the Gift three years earlier. June 22, 1950.
