Hampshire, England. July 23, 1954 This twin-hulled sailing craft, the Eb and Flo, is expected to become the fastest in the world. Designed by naval architect Thomas Tothill, the vessel is built along the lines of a catamaran, which in turn draws its form from boats used by the Polynesians hundreds of years ago. The four ton ocean-going boat will not overturn, according to the designer. It is intended to attack the present sailing record of 23 knots.
