Coloured computed tomography (CT) scans and X-ray (bottom right) showing electrodes implanted in the brain of a 62 year old male patient with Parkinson's disease. This treatment, known as deep brain stimulation (DBS) sends electrical impulses to specific areas of the brain. The electrodes provide continuous electrical stimulation, which blocks the signals that cause the tremors of Parkinson's disease.
