A-carboxysome RuBisCo enzyme, molecular model. Carboxysomes are bacterial microcompartments (BMCs) consisting of polyhedral protein shells filled with the RuBisCO enzymes. This is the 16-meric structure of an intact a-carboxysome from cyanobium, a genus of cyanobacteria.
