Yellow dung fly (Scathophaga stercoraria), a small ambush predator. It is often seen sitting on leaves and tall grasses where it will predate on other small flies. These flies aggregate and mate in the vicinity of cow pats, where the female will later lay her eggs. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
