Spiderlings of the common garden spider (Araneus diadematus), an orb weaver spider. The female spiders build a silken cocoon after mating to lay her eggs, the eggs hatch in the following spring and initially the spiderlings form a ball, which when disturbed causes the spiderlings to disperse temporarily. The garden spider is found across Europe and North America. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
