Endometrial stromal sarcoma, light micrograph. This is an example of low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma. The tumour is composed of uniform spindle cells arranged in a storiform pattern. Mitotic activity is low. The main distinction between endometrial stromal nodule and low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma is the tumour margin with myometrium. Sarcomas have infiltrative margins, whereas stromal nodules generally have circumscribed margins.
