Cardiac amyloidosis, light micrograph. This image shows an example of immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis (AL) in a patient with multiple myeloma. Monoclonal light chains (kappa or lambda) produced by neoplastic plasma cells are deposited as amorphous light pink material in the interstitium between cardiac myocytes (darker pink). The neoplastic plasma cells can be seen in the interstitium. This image also shows eosinophilic infiltrate (eosinophilic myocarditis).
