The famous Garoe or Holy Tree, on the island of El Hierro, in the Canaries. The Garoe or Holy Tree was once used as a fountain tree by the Guanche aborigines who collected water from the fog at its foot - The Til (Ocotea foetens) is a tree of the Lauraceae family endemic to Macaronesia. It is a species that makes up the laurel forests that once covered a large part of the islands of Madeira and the Canary Islands - The entire island of El Hierro is a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
