Dynasty: Qing dynasty.
Date: Late 19th to early 20th c..
Technique: Thick copper plates with Cloisonn?and partly strong gilding.
Description: The coat of arms in oval reserve on the front showing the single-headed black eagle with
the Prussian eagle on the shield on the chest; which in turn bears the ancestral
Hohenzollern shield. Above the head hovers the imperial crown with flying ribbons. In each
corner on a black background a bat; above a flaming pearl. On the back a hole for hanging.
Measurement: Weight 760g. Height 2cm; 11 x 7.5cm.
Condition B. One enamel chipping; gilding rubbed; traces of use.
Provenance:
Estate of a German railwy engineer; Julius Dorpm黮ler (1869-1945) who stayed in China between 1907 and 1918 and helped design the Chinese Schantung Railway; and thence by descent.
