Poland; city of Poznan (former German: Posen); Cathedral Island (Polish: Ostr體 Tumski): facade of Archbishop's Palace; built 1730 by Italian architect Pompeo Ferrari in Baroque style; Pompeo Ferrari; born in Rome; Italy (ca 1660 - 1736) was the best Baroque style architect in Greater Poland. The Bishop`s Palace; since 19th century Archbishop`s Palace; was built on older premises; dating back to 1404 and 15th century. Reconstruction works happened 1852-54. The facade is decorated with two marble statues of St. Peter and St. Paul; created in Rome 1864 - 1865 by Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski (1810 - 1886). Until 1945; these flanked the high altar of Poznan cathedral.
