Poland; city of Poznan (former German: Posen); Cathedral Island (Polish: Ostr體 Tumski): statue of Pope John Paul II (Karol Woytila; 1920 - 2005); unveiled 2000; realized by Polish sculptor Krystyna Faldyga-Solska; the bronze statue is dedicated to Pope John Paul II who visited Cathedral Island and named it "where Poland began". Due to its structure; the statue is also called the "Surfing Pope".
