7152644 Building Henry VII\'s Chapel, Westminster, 1503 (litho) by English School, (20th century); Private Collection; (add.info.: Building Henry VII\'s Chapel, Westminster, 1503. The magnificent Lady Chapel at Westminster, which bears the name of Henry VII, is one of the richest Gothic buildings in this country. It was commenced as a memorial to Henry VI, but became instead the Chapel of Henry VII. Some four years were spent in demolishing an older chapel built by Henry III. The chronicler Holinshed describes the laying of the foundation-stone of "our Ladie Chapell within the monasterie of Westminster . . . by the hands of John Islip, abbat of the same monasterie, Sir Reginald Bray . . . and diverse others . . . The charges whereof amounted . . . to foureteene thousand pounds." Illustration for one a set of cards on Historical London, issued by Hignett\'s Cigarettes in 1926.); 穢 Look and Learn.
