Light micrograph of the endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus) during the secretory phase. The endometrium changes with each phase of the menstrual cycle. In the secretory phase, the phase after the release of the ovum (egg cell) occurs, the endometrial glands have coiled or 'cork screw' kind of shape. Between the glands is stoma, the supportive tissue made up of stromal cells (small blue dots). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 100x when printed at 10 cm.
