Light micrograph of a myelolipoma. A myelolipoma is a benign tumour which is composed of immature hematopoietic (blood forming) cells outside of the bone marrow. In this case, the myelolipoma occurred in the tissue close to one of the kidneys. Kidney tissue is seen in the upper left corner of the image, whereas the remaining right side of the image shows the cells of the myelolipoma. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 100x when printed at 10 cm.
