Probably a scene from the opera "Annette et Lubin" by Justine Favarts and Adolphe Blaises; which was first performed in 1762 at the Paris Op閞a-Comique.
Annette is blackmailed by the bailiff 'le Bailli'. The 'man of the law' wants to make her marry him; since she is expecting an illegitimate child from her cousin Lubin.
