Ivory with expressive; amber yellow patina. Standing; supported on a knotted branch; is he dressed in a wide robe; over which he wears
a leaf collar and apron. Although the carver did not remove much of the triangular piece
of the precious material; he succeeded in creating a powerfully expressive netsuke. This
is particularly evident in the soft folds of the garment and the upward-looking face as
well as in the long; curled hair in the neck. H.10.5cm. Condition A/B.
