Hannon; Brussels/C. 00. ; Portrait Photography; Artistic Photography; Portrait; Self-Portrait of an Artist; Artist at Work; Th閛dore Hannon; Pictorialism; 蒬ouard Hannon studied engineering until 1875 and shortly after started working for a photographic chemical company. This enabled him to finance his cost-intensive hobby of art photography. At the age of twenty; Hannon was already a founding member of the Association Belge de Photographie. He regularly exhibited his mostly large format compositions at the Photo Club de Paris. They show studies of nature and especially forest scenes in which the play of light rays between the trees can be seen. With his works; Hannon corresponded to the art-photographic ideal of capturing the truth of nature in the picture and thus making the natural mood of the landscape tangible for the recipient in the picture. In 1894 蒬ouard Hannon celebrated one of his greatest successes and won the gold medal for his photography at the Photo Club de Paris. (Cathrin Hauswald)
