The surface of the tripartite top piece of furniture is veneered with marquetry; the colorfulness of which is achieved by using different types of wood; some of which are colored. The center of the desk flap is adorned with a laurel wreath medallion with the profile portrait of Frederick II of Prussia (1712-1786); who is shown as the victorious wreath bearer; following his antique model Caesar (100-44 BC). To the sides are idyllic shepherd scenes in the style of contemporary painting. The door leaves and the chest of drawers are decorated with landscapes of ruins of ancient temples.
