Tuscany; city of Pitigliano; Palazzo Orsini; "Sala del Zodiaco" (Zodiac Hall): marble bust of Pope Pius XI (Achille Ratti; 1857 - 1939; Pope 1922 - 1939); installed here 1938; the noble Orsini family took over Pitigliano; in 1313. The palace was extremely extended due to the marriage of Niccol?III Orsini (1442 - 1510); around 1465. In 1604; the Orsini gave the palace to the Medici. In 1777; it was given to the bishops of Sovana. Today; it houses two museums. Most impressive is the "Sala del Zodiaco"; the "Zodiac Hall" (today ticket office); with frescoes of Fiano Romano; realized 1493.
