Shanghai; Hongkou District; Liyang Road Villas: memorial site with mural stone plaque and portrait of writer Rou Shi (1902-1931); Rou Shi was a Chinese writer and member of the May Fourth Movement; the political; anti-imperialist; cultural movement of students starting 4th of May in 1919 during protests in Beijing. He belongs to the Five Martyrs of the League of Left-Wing Writers; imprisoned and executed on either 7 or 8 February 1931 by the Kuomintang government in Shanghai. His portrait at Liyang Road is part of the Model Area; the memorial place for revolutionary culture of 1920s to 1940s; writers; unionists; workers; soldiers and politicians; and heroes of the Communist Party of China. Model Area was restored; in 2004. Liyang Road Villas; garden villas; were built 1914.
