Ferrara: Castello Estense (Este Castle); also called Castello di San Michele (St. Michael`s Castle); built 1385 onwards; the medieval castle with four corner towers was built according to the design of architects Bartolino da Novara and; in 16th century (1554 onwards); by Girolamo da Carpi. First builder was Marquis (margrave) Niccolo II d`Este. The castle is protected by a moat.
