Structural thermal model of the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (Smile) research satellite payload module before being delivered to China. SMILE (the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer) is a research satellite that will be used to study solar-terrestrial magnetospheric physics and the interaction of the Sun and Earth and its magnetosphere. The satellite is scheduled for launch in 2023. It is a joint venture between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
