Angola; Luanda; reportage rehabilitation center for leg amputees in Luanda.After independence from Portugal in 1975; the civil war between the various independence movements began immediately afterwards. In particular; there were years of military conflict between the socialist-oriented MPLA; which was supported by the Eastern Bloc; and UNITA; which was supported by the West and South Africa. All warring parties used landmines. In total; over 500;000 Angolans died in the civil war.
