Scotland; Aberdeenshire; Strathdon; Candacraig House (17th century): barrel transformed into a bird house in the Victorian Garden; Since 1620; the Anderson family lived here for 10 generations. In 1836; Aberdeen based architect John Smith; nicknamed "Tudor Johnny"; enlarged Candacraig House in the Scottish Baronial style with pepper pot turrets and crow stepped dormer windows. In 1955; local architect Alexander McKenzie reconstructed the house partly in traditional Scottish style. In 1980; Gordon and Anita Roddick; founders of the Bodyshop chain; bought it and restored all. In 1998; Scottish comedian and actor Sir Billy Conolly and his wife Pamela bought the house which became a hot spot for partys and Hollywood celebrities: Steve Martin; Sean Connory and Gillian Anderson visited Candacraig House. In 2014; Lynne and Marc Lino took over and changed all into a fascinating luxury hotel.
