LARGE WOODEN TORTOISE SHELL INLAID EARLY BAROQUE CASKET.
Augsburg. 17th c.

Wooden body with tortoise shell veneer. Gilt ornamental trim. In panels ruin marble. Inside partly root wood veneers; mirrors; and original paper. Octagonal body on spherical feet. Jutting base area with one drawer. The middle part decorated with columns and recesses. High stepped lid with hinged finial. The inside of the lid with mirrors and star inlays. Inside small drawers. 34x43x31cm. Condition B. One small inner drawer lost.
