EXCEPTIONAL SILVER AND PARTLY GILT PUNCH BOWL AND ITS STAND INSERT WITH COINS.
Germany. 1st quarter 20th ct.
Silver with gold-plating inside. Ivory; coloured enamel decoration. Silver and gold coins. Four large ivory pomegranate feet with a broad corpus; humped underside and straight walls
between floral ribbons. This wall area has 46 embedded coins. In between dense relief
decoration with tendrils and fruit festoons. At the sides two large; fully sculptured
eagles as handles. The plumage finely engraved and the eyes with inlaid cabochons. Both
bearing large; hinged coins in their beaks. The high vaulted slip lid with corresponding
relief decoration and six embedded gold coins. The pommel in the shape of a large grape
carved from ivory; the foliage with coloured enamel decoration. Large bowl with inlaid
gold coin at the end of the handle. The large round presentoir with horizontal flag and a
total of 16 embedded coins. The coins originate altogether from the years 1829 to 1930. Ca. 8092g. Bowl: height 42.5cm; width 43cm / Presentoir: ?53cm / trowel: length 39.5cm.
Lid with crescent & crown; all parts with standard 930. Condition A.
