Ebonised wood case with ornamental brass inlays. Gilt applications. Enamel dial. The case is in the shape of a neo-Gothic pointed arch. Beneath the dial double-door
engraved with bird motifs; behind this a moveable cock. Roman hour numerals. 8-day
movement; drive via three spring reels with chain and fusee. Quarter-hour chime on
carillon with eight bells; hour chime on a bell. 81x43x29cm.
Inscribed on the movement J H Borrell London.
Condition B. Songbird automaton defective and in need of overhaul.
